Artifact Grading

Jackson Galleries is pleased to announce the launch of an all-new approach to grading artifacts. The JPAGS 1.0 system at its core separates the subjective and objective portions of a particular artifacts attributes. End result? A much better perspective on an artifacts positive and negative physical features, while not ignoring the aesthetic qualities.

Say goodbye to the days of dealers down-grading a point to only up-grade it later for sale.

The JPAGS system scores each point on 10 percentage-weighted physical features, and ends with an aggregate numerical score. The Aesthetic features are graded separately and use a Coding prefix to the Physical score resulting in the final grade.

Example: The above artifact scored a 93.65 out of a possible 100 for physical attributes, however it exhibited a number of qualities which set it apart from the average point. In this case, it exhibited extreme color, a high-grade material, and a near-first-stage construction. Thus the point grade was an EC/HG/NFS-93.65.

Items submitted for grading need a prior Jackson Galleries Authentication Certificate, however COA information from other authenticators may be added to the Grading Sheet as an associated opinion. Grading can be added to any Jackson Galleries Authentication for $15.00
